2 fast, 2 furious
this year i’ve decided to put my post-holiday fasting plan into action. i know that most fasts are undertaken in late winter/early spring (maybe to coincide with nature’s stingy season?), but that’s when i start putting on lots of running miles and fasting and high miles probably can’t coexist.
i was already looking forward to this fast before the deeply troubling amount of food i put away in december. over the past six weeks, i’ve felt sort of gross, logy, and apathetic. really not myself. i’m hoping that this fast is a magic bullet for feeling better. i usually feel a mild euphoria from prolonged caloric restriction.
the plan is to blend and drink only raw fruits and vegetables for 5 days, probably in smaller quantities than i usually eat. if i only go 3 days, that’ll be ok but i’d prefer to go 5. i’ll be posting during the week to keep a log of how it’s going. wish me luck.

Good luck! I am 6 days into a no grains, no dairy myself. But that’s pretty much how you eat anyway, right? Apples with a little crunchy all-nat peanut butter is the best treat in the whole wide world for me right now. Yummers.
PS - Do you have a juicer/blender that you recommend? I’ve been reading up on brands, but a personal thumbs up is always nice.

i fasted yesterday. actually, i had the stomach flu, so it’s not quite right to say i fasted. let’s just say that net-net, it was a fast.

good job on the no grain and no dairy, carrie.anne. yeah, that is how i eat. but sometimes i break down and eat some brown rice. it’s just too good to resist. also, i am a sucker for apples and nut butter (though i am more of an almond-butter man, myself).
as for blenders, i have a kitchenaid 1hp. if i had to do it all over again, i’d either get a vitamix or one of these blendtec ones (blendtec are the people who brought you willitblend.com). i think they’re both about $400. kinda spendy.
stomach flu is worse than fasting, reines. eat something already.
